Grammy Award winning duo The Chemical Brothers are a team formed in 1992 in Manchester, England whose great performances showcasing electronica, big beat, trip hop, and house music have earned for them a superior place in the British and worldwide musical scene.
The Chemical Brothers are Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands, sometimes referred to as Chemical Ed and Chemical Tom, although they called themselves "The Dust Brothers" at some point early in their career before finding there was a duet already using that name in the United States.
They also were known as "The 237 Turbo Nutters" while being DJ’s at the "Naked Under Leather" playing techno, hip hop, and house, which is an electronic dance music style developed by DJ’s.
After Tom and Ed graduated from college in 1993, the duo began with their first remixes and recording EP’s such as "Fourteenth Century Sky" and “My Mercury Mouth" that were released under the name "The Dust Brothers".
The Chemical Brothers debut occurred in 1995 pioneering the big beat electronic dance genre alongside other rave, industrial, and break beat dance bands including The Crystal Method, The Prodigy, and Fatboy Slim.
The Chemical Brothers soon became popular due to their high-quality live sets and the duo was invited to the Glastonbury Festival 2005. They also released their debut album "Exit Planet Dust" during this year featuring Beth Orton and Tim Burgess, musicians that also made a guest appearance in the follow-up album "Dig Your Own Hole" released in the summer of 2007.
The duo's first single, "Life is Sweet" broke through into the mainstream peaking at number 25 on the single charts and chosen as Single Of The Month for October by Select Magazine.
The upcoming year produced more hits and new albums, including "Surrender" (1999), "Come With Us" (2002), "Push the Button†(2005), and "We Are the Night†their most recent production released on July 2007.
As of today, it is known that The Chemical Brothers will officially announce their forthcoming album on MySpace as they did announcing their actual album on March 21, almost four months beforehand to allow fans to pre-order their records.
