The group Sick Puppies is a rock band from Sydney, Australia. The group is made up of the members Shimon Moore, Emma Anzai, and Mark Goodwin. The only former member from the group was Chris Mileski. The band was formed by Shimon and Emma while they were in high school in their music room back in 1997. The one reason that the two members connected well together was that they both shared the love for the band Silverchair. At the start, they had Shimon on the drums and Emma on the guitars. They loved to meet up and play music from songs from groups such as Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, and Silverchair. Then they started getting more into writing their own music and soon to follow was Chris Mileski who now plays drums.
They really made a name for themselves when their song Nothing Really Matters in 2000 won Triple J’s Unearthed. During that same year, “Welcome to the Real World†was voted for Best Live Performance in Sydney, Australia during a rock festival.
They released the singles “Rock Ridsâ€, “Nothing Really Mattersâ€, and “Every Day†from the album.
Their second album “Dressed up as Life†was released on April 3, 2007. They released the single “All The Same†in 2007. The song hit number 8 on the US Modern Rock Chart and hit number 36 on the S Mainstream Rock Chart. The song has three different music videos to accompany the song. The second single from the album is “My Worldâ€. At this time, there is no information on how well this single is doing.
The song “All The Same†is featured in the video of Juan Mann’s for his video of Free Hugs Campaign. This video is shown on the site of YouTube. This really did help the band get major airplay with their music. The video has had over 17 million hits on YouTube.
Sick Puppies have been working hard to get going and they are finally becoming noticed for their music. The band went from playing other bands music to writing and performing their own music. They have proven that they are a band and that they can do it like any other rock band out there. They may have only just begun, but all signs point to bright futures and many more hit songs.
